I was wondering if there were any army list ideas people had that weren't currently covered by an existing army list? I thought it would be nice to gather our thoughts and maybe look at some ideas. It could also be a place to talk about where you could get the models for that army.

For me i have always wanted to do a New Zealand Maori army. They were vicious warriors and excelled at guerilla tatics nearly defeating the British army during the New Zealand wars.

you could do two types, a traditional and a post european style that would include a few muskets etc or a mixture of both.

Old glory has Maori I believe.

American indians: I have some, but don't have any stats worked up. Similar to the Maori in that they have no armor, different in their later use of cavalry. (though you could do many different types, plains indians, east coast, north west).

Cheesy Idea alert:

Some kind of all-flying birdman army.

The problem is if it comes up against an army without much shooting, it would be a really dull and one sided game.

Plants. Walking trees, poison flowers, venus fly-trap like things.

Swarms army - various little beasties, with some giant ones thrown in. Possibly the giant ones are the leaders of each unit of their type. No normal sized troops at all, just giant and tiny (though swarms probably base 4)

Sorcerers horde - a construct list, perhaps with some summoned beasties

Dragons! We have giants already, so why not?

The Fhoi Myore Army from the Michael Moorcock Corum novels
This is Moorcock’s take on ideas drawn from Celtic Mythology, rich in magical items, beasts and heroes…a positive gold mine for AoA players
The Army comprises
Up to 7 individually nasty demi-gods from Limbo, the 'Cold Folk', on rickety carts pulled by deformed beasts, each with their own nasty attributes. (A rich source of material for Battleforge to work on I'd have thought)
Chief among them are
Balahr the one eyed - with a freezing gaze
Sreng of the Seven swords,
Kerenos - with a hunting horn that controls the hounds, Goolegh etc., so terrible a sound it makes people collapse and vomit to hear it...

Goolegh - half-dead zombie like huntsmen, as strong as trolls, wielding huge sabres

People of the Pines - dead men animated by treesap instead of blood, with some cavalry - vulnerable to fire

Hounds of Kerenos - giant direwolves/hell hounds, ferocious and tenacious, slow to be killed

From memory (which is shadey at best) the dragon kin list isn't a list to field lots of dragons but a glorified lizards list.

How about a "wheel of Time" list with Trollocs, forsaken etc.. (see Robert Jordons books)..

I also remember someone suggesting doing a Nid (40k) army as a demon type army..

Since Thane's site is no more, does anyone have a lead on where to find this list now? A friend of mine is interested in doing a dragonborn/draconian-type army.

A viable Ogre list. I have a whole mess of fully painted Ogres that I can only rarely pull out a few at a time as monsters in my lists.

I just checked my files and I don't have a copy of the dragon-kin army list. Odd as I thought I'd saved everything Thane had on his website.

Tanker, what sort of list are you thinking of? GW Ogre Kingdoms style or something else? I think I can dig up a copy of the OK book and try to convert it to AoA if that's what you want. Not a lot of spare time right now with harvest and home renovating going on but in a month or so I might have time to sit down and think for a change Rolling Eyes

I thought the new giants list had some kind of base four giants. That's cover an ogre army.
